My wife knows me entirely too well

Tomorrow's Maximum Ultra introduces a new character, one "Hairy Tom" Richardson. Hairy Tom is a member of Squad Eight, otherwise known as the Void Hogs, and also Odlief's boyfriend.

Now, as an organization Maximum Ultra is conceived as a slightly less malevolent version of Cobra (one with, for starters, a coherent ideology). The Void Hogs are basically Dreadnoks, albeit less comical.

And also space bikers. Space biker pirates.

[info]pallas_melissa figured this out as soon as I said Hairy Tom was a biker. Because that's the sort of thing I'd do.

I love my wife.

I love the new comic! Sorry I never followed through on the collaboration - music school and bellydance seduced me. I totally dig Vijoya - you need to write an episode where she is possessed by Kali and worshipped by the Hindu-Muslim descendents of the Thaggees. I didn't care for the art at first, but it's grown on me, and you're improving every day.
Are you going to college? How are the boys?

Hey, I totally dropped my end of the ball there, too. And the fact that I mixed the metaphor does not make that any less true.

I honestly can't decide whether Ultra's protagonist should be Mae or Vijaya. Well, that's not entirely true ... it's more "who is the lead in a given arc". I has plans, yesss ...

Which reminds me, I need to get down to the library and so some more research on India/Bangladesh and Hinduism, so I don't give those parts of V's character short shrift.

(To be honest, I'm not that much of a fan of the art either, and I'm the one drawing it. I'll totally cop to "amateurish at best". My saving grace is looking at early Questionable Content and Queen of Wands [and, well, every other non-sprite webcomic out there, but those in particular stick out] - seeing the huge amount of improvement over a year or two of drawing every day gives me hope that practice will make adequate)

College is, sadly, still on the backburner - I've been about two years from graduation for the past three. It's mostly transportation and child-care related - one car and me staying home with the youngest is just easier on the budget. The boys are doing well, though - Michael's in first grade now and doing really well, and really glad to be able to go all-day from now on. I'm sure that'll change in a few years.
